This past summer I had the pleasure of designing and building a percussion instruments installation at the Art Museum in Esbjerg, as part of their Tranzart exhibitation. This also included playing a concert at the opening and closing days of the venue and for this ocassions I composed a 20 minutes pieces titled “Birds” using these instruments.
A really cool production of The Rite of Spring by Igor Stravinsky, arranged for wind quintet and added my own arrangement of the percussion for one player. The production was a collaboration with the ballet school in Esbjerg and it was very well received by the audiences.
Esbjerg Ensemble´s new concert season in 2017 has also some exciting percussion pieces on the programs, with music by George Crumb, Per Nørgård, Günther Schuller among others.
I will be instructing the percussion session at Askov High School´s Orchestral Summer Week in 2017. Great repertoire with lots of percussion, like Gustav Holst ” The Planets”, Tchaikovsky´s 4th Symphony, Prokofiev´s ” Romeo and Julie” , Bernstein´s ” West side Story”….
